What is the Gaza 5K walk/run?
The Gaza 5K walk/run is a fun, family-friendly event that brings Americans together to show solidarity with the people of the Gaza Strip. The event attracts people of all ages, runners, walkers and those passionate about Palestine, and Gaza especially.

What does the 5K support?
Proceeds from the Gaza 5K fund UNRWA’s Community Mental Health Programme (CMHP) to help empower vulnerable refugees in Gaza, especially children, to better cope with the extreme challenges they face on a daily basis. Through the program, UNRWA provides school counseling, group sessions, and even at-home counseling for those in need who are unable to travel. Learn more here.

I’m not a runner, can I still take part?

Can I bring my kids? What about dogs?
Yes! Bring the whole family, even your furry four-legged family members. Strollers are welcome!

Can I ride my bike?

How do I register?
Register and set up your fundraising page through our new online platform

What do I get with registration?
Registrants get a packet, an UNRWA USA tote bag, a Gaza 5K t-shirt, and a bib with your assigned number.

Is my registration tax-deductible?
No. Registration fees are not tax-deductible. However, any donations that you make to your own fundraising account may be tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

When can I pick up my registration packet?
We encourage you to pick up your packet prior to race day. Packet pickup locations will be finalized closer to race day, and you can also pick up your packet at the 5K the morning of. If you are doing race day pickup, arrive one hour before start time so you have enough time.

Can I fundraise for the Gaza 5K?
Absolutely! The Gaza 5K supports UNRWA’s Community Mental Health Programme (CMHP), which provides psychosocial support to Palestine refugee children in Gaza. When you register for the race, a customized fundraising page will automatically be created. Customize the page to tell people why you’re participating, and start fundraising with social media and email tools.

I can’t make it, or I don't live in the area, can I still make a donation?
Of course! You can register as a virtual runner/walker and start raising funds! You can also make a donation to any team or individual on the registration page.

What is the inclement weather policy? Will the race be cancelled if it rains?
Our event will go on as planned, rain or shine, unless conditions are deemed unsafe by the Parks Department. In the unlikely event that they make that decision, we will immediately inform registrants via email.

Can I be issued a refund if I cannot attend the race or the event is cancelled?
No. Because all funds go directly on to UNRWA’s CMHP in Gaza, no refunds will be issued for the Gaza 5K.
